Black autumn truffle (Tuber uncinatum)

It is irregularly spherical in shape, brownish-black or black in color and has pyramidoid projections with 4-6 faces smaller in size than the ones of Tuber aestivum.

The flesh is rough and off white at the beginning and ripens to deep brown marbled with numerous thin white veins that do not change their color when exposed to air.

It is considered to be following the summer Tuber aestivum and it is usually found at higher altitudes.
